It’s officially the holiday season, which pretty much means it’s shopping season.
In an effort to stretch your dollars to the max, here are some things to buy – and not buy – in December:
- Toys – The 10 days before Christmas is when many toys are discounted in a big way.
- Gift Card Freebies – A popular promotion throughout December – especially at restaurants – is to offer a free gift card to shoppers who purchase one as a gift. For example, last year California Pizza Kitchen offered a $20 gift card to anyone who purchased $100 or more in gift cards.
- Christmas Decorations – Prices will be slashed on everything left on the shelves on December 26th.
- Items for Holiday Cooking – Look for cutlery sets, bakeware, and small appliances.
As for stuff to stay away from, jewelry is a bad buy this month. So are electronics, which tend to drop in price in January and February. (Yahoo Shopping)
