Some people didn't approve of Jay-Z and Beyonce's trip to Cuba last week, but the U.S. government sure did.
According to Reuters, the couple visited the communist nation last week for their fifth wedding anniversary on a cultural trip that was fully licensed by the U.S. Treasury Department. It's against the law for U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba for tourism, but exceptions can be made in the form of "cultural exchange" licenses.
Last week a number of politicians and activists blasted the power couple's trip. U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said it was "very disconcerting that these two mega stars would go down to Cuba and vacation as if they were in a tropical paradise and not say one word about the brutality their hosts display against all pro-democracy activists."
